Various Artists - Required Listening 2 - Sampler One (vinyl only)

“Toronto’s Do Right Music continues to define the converging worlds of hip hop, funk, soul, jazz and broken beats in Canada with this second installment in their Required Listening series.” Montreal Mirror

"Do Right mainman John Kong pulled together all the tracks for the set -- and as usual, he's got a great ear for an unusual groove” Dusty Groove

Vancouver is best known for its beautiful terrain, incredible climate and overall easy going vibe. These days Vancouver is gaining the reputation as an epicentre of dope music Holding down the brukbeat vibes on the West Coast is dancefloor killah Aklimatize, who’s party rockin’ brokenlatinosoul sound has taken him across the globe, he has collaborated with Zed Bias and SA:RA and remixed Bugz in the Attic. Aklimatize stylings can be heard on the afro-latino inspired broken beat stomper “Dime La Verdad”.

On the flip, Dante & Dhula who also do double duty with Cobblestone Jazz switch up the vibe, taking a dubby, down tempo journey with the track “Why Do the Wicked Ones Rule” which has been played by the like of Toshio Matsuura and Gilles Peterson.

Required Listening 1 was a taste of what was being cooked up in Toronto’s backyard, Volume 2 expands the terrain to show the rest of the world what’s blowing up in Vancouver, Toronto, as well as Ottawa and Montreal. Compiler & Do Right label boss John Kong continues his journey across Canada to join the dots between hip-hop, funk, soul, future-jazz, broken-beat, house, techno and everything in between. Required Listening 2 is the second volume in this compilation series that really does require listening.
