This long awaited release from Chosen 2, the outfit is another guise of one, highly talented Nick Van Gelder. He is currently working on his debut album…but for now here's a taster in the shape of two soulful gems to set the dance floor alight in a manner that might possibly inspire you to take your own fire extinguisher into the club.This 12" release contains a modern-soul for the 21st century 'Get on Up', and a boogie crossover with 'To be Free'. Vocals come courtesy of Mazen- the front man of the group Akwaaba People (a north London Funk & Soul band). Nick plays drums, percussion, guitar, rhodes, bass & moog on the tracks ably supported by Nichol Thompson on trombone, Jim Hunt on tenor sax and Simon Finch on trumpet. Produced by Keb Darge.Both tracks were originally recorded by Luther Davis Group on a super rare 7'' which were big tracks on the Soul & Northern Soul scene.
