'NOW,
THAT'S HOW WE DO RIGHT!':
a compilation of exclusive dance floor tracks previously
released only on vinyl is now available for digital
downloading. This album showcases the early Do Right!
releases by artists Basic Soul Unit, Shephane Vera,
BAW,
John Kong and Moonstarr. Featuring remixes of Ivana
Santilli, Handpolished and KAJE by the likes of
Quantic,
Nick Holder,
DJ Mitsu the Beats and Moonstarr. This
solid 10 track compilation flows freely between the
sub-genres and extensions of electronic music, combining
broken beat, deep jazzy techno, tech house, and new soul.
The
release of this album may come as a surprise to those only
familiar with recent releases on Do Right! "We have had
great success with the CBC compilation Ready or Not
and The Elizabeth Shepherd Trio", says John Kong,
"but we
are also a dance music label and have released many 12"
singles catering to eclectic/ dance DJs around the world.
This is the collection of early Do Right's releases that
have helped shape the label."
Highlights include the stunning eight minute jazzy,
brukbeat remix of Ivana Santili's gorgeous track
Breathe Inn by prolific Canadian producer and Public
Transit Recordings main man Moonstarr. Moon also gets busy
with John Kong on the powerful and infectious
Yesterday's New Beginning featuring
Coolhandluke
of Toronto's Stop Die Resuscitate. Ivana gets another
re-rub of her summer anthem Everlasting by Tokyo's
rising star DJ Mitsu the Beats who has been actively
collaborating with artists like Sa Ra and Dwele. Highly
respected Canadian producer and DJ Nick Holder lays down
his signature sound on the remix of Nothing's Changing,
the beautiful, soulful vocal house tune by fellow Canadian
producer KAJE.
Basic Soul Unit's Your Love brings the raw, moody,
minimal tech-house vibe while producer and session player
Stephane Vera (Teknostep) keeps in the vein of quirky
jazz-techno with his track Eve.
With a roster of so many creative producers, DJs and
musicians it is not a shock that John Kong was a visionary
with his commissioning of the multi-talented, Brighton
based wonder-boy producer, Quantic. Quantic's remix of
So Sudden by Toronto resident Handpolished is heavy
with fat drums, brass stabs and a serious guitar line
giving it that Mishaps Happening feel.
'NOW, THAT'S HOW WE DO RIGHT!'
Volume One
is the perfect combination of late night sessions and
blissful afternoon rarities all on one compilation. Stay
tuned for volume two
