Do Right! London Session
2011-01-07
Do Right! Music is crossing the pond to share a little musical joy with their British pals and ex Canucks seeking a taste of the T dot.
The acts to hit London town will be the much talked about Maylee Todd, the quirky Toronto-based singer/songwriter who is turning heads by reinventing tropical grooves. Her debut album “Choose Your Own Adventure” which has received rave reviews both at home and abroad will be released in the UK next month.
Next up will be Brassroots, the explosive 8-piece horn and percussion ensemble from East London. Their funk version of “Good Life” has been on heavy rotation throughout Europe, spun by the likes of Giles Peterson, Rob Da Bank and Dimitri from Paris, and topped the year-end charts of 2010. There’s no sign of slowing down for these guys as they hit the studio once more to complete their album for 2011.
Also on the bill is Nostalgia 77 aka Skeletons, whose unique ethio-groove and afro-jazz sounds have been building a strong cult following as well as being featured on the popular TV show Entourage. This time, he’ll be on DJ Duty with Do Right’s label boss, DJ John Kong, as together they wrap up a night of funk and soul with some eclectic beats.
